New account for Wisteria!

Beginning this Halloween, Wisteria has picked up a new corporate account. An east side group has asked us to create a few items for their monthly gathering for approximately 150-250 guests, mostly men. We have met with the coordinator and come up with some great ideas, including an individual Toffee Coffee Cake, presented in a plastic window container. Working on some creative delectable for Halloween and then on to their Holiday party in December. Always been a big believer in food favors for guests!!

Holiday Specials

Yes, as weird as it might sound, we are already working on the Thanksgiving and December holiday cake specials.

For Thanksgiving:
Pumpkin Cheese Cake
Pumpkin Roll
Toffee Coffee Cake
Four Berry Torte
Chocolate Ganache Cake
Apple Spice Cake
plus a few other surprises!

Lots of great options in December as well!! These will be available for pre-order and can be picked up at Christopher & Company, as part of their Retail Days!!

New Cake Designs

Spent some time, while getting my infusion, sketching a few wedding cake designs. the first one I did I called "Dots and Circles" It is for a 3-tier stacked cake. The top tier would be decorated with Swiss Dots or maybe edible dragees. The middle tier would be polka dots, cut out of fondant. The bottom tier would e large cut outs (approx. 2 inches round) I envision this on a white or ivory fondant covered cake and the dots and circles could be done to match the color theme for the wedding.

The other cake design is for a stacked, square cake. I called it simply "Mosaic." It again, would be 3-tiers. the top tier would be a 2X2 square mosaic pattern. The middle tier would be three horizontal stripes in different colors, more shade variations. The bottom tier, vertical panel stripes that vary in width. This could be done in shades of ivory, champagne, taupe, or other earth tones.

Sounds like fun. Can't wait to share these with James and see what he thinks. Wish I had a scanner at home so I could post these.

The proper paper work has been filed! The official name: Wisteria Bakehaus, LLC

Very excited about this development! Business cards have been ordered for James so he can begin selling! He's ready to make it happen. Joseph is going to start designing the Thanksgiving Specials handout and emailer. Also, gathering text and photos for the website! Things are looking up for the company. We have a temporary location while we begin the search for a future home.

New Life for Wisteria Bakehaus

Recently, like this past week, Wisteria Bakehaus has been given new breath and a positive direction for the bakery. We are in discussion with a talented baker in the Greater Detroit area to join us as our lead baker/Creative Director for the company. Collecting details and information to design the look of the company and make decisions on the things we will be able to offer.

Wedding cakes, special event cakes and seasonal items will certainly be on the menu. Other things we will consider 4-5 different granola blends, assorted biscotti, flavored tea cookies, scones, and a variety of traditional cookie options. Things will be featured and specials will be offered.
Are we doing retail? No.
Are we doing e-commerce? Time will tell.
Are we looking forward to it starting? Absolutely! Stay tuned!!

Wisteria Bakehaus is born!

Earlier, this year the name was given life. I registered the URL and went about establishing what is still in the early development stages. Wisteria Bakehaus had many possibilities; a dessert house; a retail line; a cookbook, an online (e-commerce) business. The ideas came and went and continued to change. All I felt was the connection to the name and a passion for baking. The wisteria flower is one of the most delicate, beautiful flowers that grows on a strong vine. To view this plant, you get an instant combination of a masculine structural vein combined with the delicate beauty that is the blossom.

I proceeded to have conversations with my partner, Christopher and a few bakers in our lives. One is an award winning pastry chef and the other a recent graduate of The Cordon Bleu in Scottsdale, AZ. The first, a life time friend and colleague. The other, my favorite niece. Both have offered their thoughts on a direction for the newborn. The "kick-in-the-pants" reality is the fact that I am living with MS (Multiple Sclerosis) and some what limited and can only offer so much to the development, birth, growth and future of Wisteria Bakehaus.

The bottom line is that we have decided to explore and move forward with an e-commerce business and working with a select few, reliable professionals in producing incredible, must buy, gotta have baked goods. Please stay tuned as we move forward to unearth the future that is Wisteria Bakehaus!
